On 16 February 2026, RCK Velika Gorica held practical training for second-year students of Secondary School Dugo Selo in the Mechanical Engineering Computer Technician programme.
18 students took part, accompanied by teachers Josipa Philipps and Helena I. Perutka.
The training was part of the subjects Mechanical Engineering Technologies and Engineering Materials, with a focus on materials testing.
During the exercises, the students learned the operating principles and practical use of:
- a metallurgical microscope (analysis of material microstructure),
- a hardness tester (testing material hardness),
- a tensile testing machine (testing the tensile strength and mechanical properties of materials),
- basic mechanical engineering measurement (calipers, micrometer, gauge blocks),
- a demonstration of a CNC lathe.
Through practical work, the students were able to observe the microstructure of various metal samples, carry out hardness measurements and analyse the stress–strain diagrams obtained from tensile tests. This form of teaching allowed them to connect theoretical knowledge with concrete practical examples and to better understand the mechanical properties of materials.
