University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica

2025/2026

Students of the University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica explored the future of sustainability at the RCK

As part of the course Green Technologies and Sustainable Development, second-year students of Digital Technologies at the University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica (VVG) visited the Regional Centre of Competence (RCK) in Velika Gorica. The field trip, held on 29 January 2026, gave the students a unique insight into the practical application of environmentally friendly solutions that will shape their future profession.

During the session, the students learned how modern systems that save energy and reduce pollution work. They saw how digital solutions are used for smarter resource management and gained a better understanding of what their future profession will look like in a world striving for sustainability. The field trip allowed them to connect theoretical knowledge with a real working environment and the technologies they will be using themselves tomorrow.

Successful metrology laboratory exercises for students of the University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica

As part of the courses Engineering Measurements (OZR programme) and Measurements in Mechanical Engineering (MV programme) at the University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica, laboratory exercises were successfully held on 15 April 2026 in the measurement laboratory of the Regional Centre of Competence – Industry 4.0.

The visit was marked by the students' active participation and a well-organised teaching process. Through practical work and demonstrations, the students acquired basic knowledge of measuring instruments and measurement methods and developed skills in reading and applying measurement procedures correctly.

During the exercises, the students:

  • used measuring instruments for length measurement
  • checked form deviations with gauges
  • measured surface roughness
  • learned how a 3D coordinate measuring machine works
  • carried out a static tensile test of a material and plotted the corresponding graph
  • tested the hardness of a machine part

Through interactive discussion and practical work, the students showed that they understood the importance of choosing the right measurement method and the connection between measurement, tolerances and technical documentation. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of metrology in product quality control, which the students recognised well.

This form of teaching helps connect theoretical knowledge with practical application and prepares students for future engineering challenges. It is also an example of successful cooperation between the Regional Centre of Competence Velika Gorica and the University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica in education and the development of professional competences.

2024/2025

Students of Digital Technologies at the University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica took part in practical exercises in 3D printing and 3D scanning as part of the activities of the Regional Centre of Competence (RCK) Industry 4.0.

The students get to know modern additive manufacturing and 3D digitisation technologies, work with professional equipment and gain practical knowledge applicable in industry and product development.

Students of Motor Vehicles at the University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica take part in practical exercises in measurement technology and materials testing at the Regional Centre of Competence (RCK) Industry 4.0.

FSB – Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture

2025/2026

As in previous years, we supported the FSB Racing Team by producing the components they needed on our own equipment. We are glad that our technology and precise manufacturing can contribute to the development of another top-class race car.

2024/2025

Students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture can use our equipment to build their own projects, and when needed we produce samples and parts the same as or similar to those in the pictures below.

Faculty of Metallurgy

2025/2026

The Regional Centre of Competence (RCK) in Velika Gorica continues to connect education and industry through valuable cooperation with the Faculty of Metallurgy of the University of Zagreb.

This technical cooperation focuses on producing standard specimens for the static tensile test, a key element in testing the mechanical properties of materials.

Our participants and experts use the RCK's state-of-the-art equipment to produce test specimens to precise specifications. The process includes:

  • Precise machining of the material on CNC machines.
  • Compliance with standards that ensure accurate test results.
  • Knowledge exchange between secondary vocational education and higher education research.

The static tensile test is one of the most important testing methods in mechanical engineering and metallurgy. It determines the yield strength, tensile strength and elongation of a material – data without which modern industry would be unthinkable.

By combining the RCK's resources with the scientific expertise of the Faculty of Metallurgy, we give university and secondary school students a direct insight into real quality control and materials development processes.

This cooperation is further proof that RCK Velika Gorica is not only a place of learning but also an important partner in the development of technical sciences and innovation in the region.
