The Regional Centre of Competence in Vocational Education in Mechanical Engineering – Industry 4.0 is organised as a single centre of excellence established at three locations, as three centres of excellence in the mechanical engineering sector: Vocational School Velika Gorica as the Centre of Excellence for CAD/CAM/CNC systems and additive technologies, Vocational School Samobor as the Centre of Excellence for sensors, automation and renewable energy sources, and Secondary School Dugo Selo as the Centre of Excellence for robotics. The centres of excellence are hubs of technological, pedagogical and andragogical excellence in the mechanical engineering sector for Zagreb County, the neighbouring counties and the wider region.
The Regional Centre of Competence – Industry 4.0 has a dual purpose:
- Learning Factory: work-based learning in real technological and production conditions.
- Research and development centre: providing research and development services and producing prototypes and products for industry through the education sector.
- The total value of the RCK project of Vocational School Velika Gorica amounts to EUR 14,739,657.11.
- Total approved grants from the Operational Programme Efficient Human Resources (ESF) and the Operational Programme Competitiveness and Cohesion (ERDF) amount to EUR 10,054,181.86 (ESF EUR 6,072,497.61; ERDF EUR 3,981,684.25).
- Zagreb County has invested EUR 4,685,476.25 in the project (loan and budget funds).
