Technology in little hands – cooperation between RCK Industry 4.0 and Lojtrica Kindergarten
At the end of May, the Regional Centre of Competence Industry 4.0, which operates at Vocational School Velika Gorica, had the honour of hosting special guests – children from the play group for potentially gifted children at Lojtrica Kindergarten in Velika Mlaka.
As part of the final meeting of this year's play group cycle, our Centre became a place where preschoolers could discover the world of technology in a way that was familiar, interesting and stimulating for them. Through a short workshop and a tour of the RCK, the children were introduced to the basics of robotics, programming and 3D printing technology.
3D printing made a particular impression on the young visitors – a process in which they could see a real object being created from a digital model. As a souvenir, every child took home a toy made on our Centre's 3D printers, and the helicopters and sound toys prepared by our associate Ivan Živković were the biggest hit.
We see our cooperation with Lojtrica Kindergarten as an excellent opportunity to spread our Centre's mission – to bring STEM closer to all generations and show that learning about technology can be interesting, fun and accessible to everyone.
We thank the preschool teachers Matilda Jukić and Lana Pešl and the psychologist Maja Detelić for the initiative and excellent cooperation. We look forward to future joint projects and new opportunities to popularise technical sciences among the youngest.
